If elected, I will:

• Propose a temporary hiring freeze during a staffing and spending review.

  Review vacancies, staffing costs and service needs, with clearly defined exceptions to protect essential frontline services.

• Ask for clear justification for additional spending.

  Proposals should explain the need, alternatives considered, ongoing costs and expected benefits to residents.

• Seek clearer reporting on major projects.

  Residents should be able to see approved budgets, spending to date, expected completion dates and explanations for significant changes.

• Evaluate spending against service results.

  Budget decisions should consider whether residents are receiving reliable, responsive services and where improvements are needed.

• Freeze my own councillor pay.

  If an increase cannot be prevented or declined, I will donate the increase.

My goal is to reduce pressure on property taxes through careful, evidence-based decisions while protecting the services residents depend on.

If elected, I will:

• Pursue funding for affordable rental housing near major transit hubs.

  Work with Durham Region, other levels of government, nonprofit housing providers and development partners to identify suitable sites and practical ways to finance construction.

• Connect housing to jobs and services.

  Advocate for accessible transit, safe sidewalks and convenient connections to stations and bus stops so residents can more easily get to work and meet their daily needs.

• Seek lasting affordability from public investment.

  Where public funding or land supports a project, advocate for clear commitments on affordable rents, how long affordability will be maintained and when homes will be delivered.

• Plan infrastructure alongside development.

  Ask how roads, transit, water and wastewater systems, parks and community facilities will support new housing, including when improvements will be available and how they will be funded.

• Support development that fits its location.

  Consider building heights, transitions to neighbouring homes, traffic, pedestrian safety and access to public space.

• Push for clear timelines and early resident input.

  Seek updates on major development milestones and opportunities for residents to influence proposals while options are still being considered.

I want growth that supports long-term affordability, community stability and a better quality of life for existing and future residents.

If elected, I will:

• Organize rotating Ward 1 community forums.

  Hold regular forums at different community centres across the ward to discuss proposed and upcoming projects, answer questions and hear residents’ concerns, ideas and needs.

• Encourage both ward representatives to participate.

  Invite and actively encourage the Ward 1 local councillor to join me so residents can discuss local and Regional issues with their representatives together.

• Follow up after the forums.

  Share brief summaries of the issues raised, outstanding questions and next steps while protecting residents’ personal information.

• Explain my votes on significant decisions.

  Publish plain-language explanations of my position, the reasons behind it and the important trade-offs.

• Report on my commitments.

  Maintain a public progress tracker showing what I have brought forward, what has advanced and where obstacles remain.

• Make participation and decisions easier to follow.

  Share significant upcoming issues, explain how residents can provide input and advocate for clearer access to recommendations, amendments and final decisions.
